Naila Kabeer is Professor of Gender and Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research includes gender, poverty, social exclusion, labour markets and livelihoods, social protection and citizenship, mainly in South and South East Asia. She has an outstanding record in critically developing frameworks and methodologies, and discussing concepts such as agency, empowerment and development policies. Her many publications are worldwide known and used by many gender studies scholars, and often referred to in gender and development debates.

In the lecture she especially shows how various aspects of inequality interplay within households, labour markets and the wider economy.
