Women2030 project start-up meeting in Nairobi following UNEA-2

The Global Women 2030 project, funded by the International Cooperation Of the European Commission (DEVCO), will meet to set up the project from 27 to 30 May 2016 in Nairobi, immediately after the second session of the The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEP-2).

The meeting will assist the coalition of 5 regional and global women’s networks, which are coordinating this strategic project on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDOs): WECF International, the Women for the Environment (WEP), the Global Forest Coalition (GFC), the Gender and Water Alliance (GWA), and the Asia Pacific Forum on Women Law and Development (APWLD).

The project aims to strengthen the capacity of women’s organizations to progress at the local and regional levels in achieving equitable, and inclusive policies (including Agenda 2030 and the climate change agenda) by participating in policy formulation and monitoring, mobilizing public support and demonstrating what are the best practice. The meeting will focus on the next steps implementation of the project in the three key areas of the program: training, strategic cooperation and influence on policies, and information to the media and communities.
