SHADOW REPORTS

Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) is a follow-up and report mechanism under Agenda 2030. In the VNRs, member states report on the status of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in their countries. Their voluntary nature means that not all countries are reporting every year and the quality of reporting varies. Women2030’s project partners are producing shadow reports (ie alternative reports written by civil society organisations, CSOs) to their government’s report. With the purpose to analyse and address the gaps in the VNRs on gender equality and women’s human rights. Each year member states who have produced VNRs present them during the High Level Political Forum. CSOs are then given the chance to ask their governments questions about their reports.
