ABOUT US

The Women 2030 Programme is being implemented in countries across different regions of the world. It is constituted by a coalition of 4 women+ and gender network organisations collaborating to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a gender-equitable and climate-just way. The coalition is part of a year framework partnership agreement with the European Commission’s International Cooperation arm (DEVCO) called “Women 2030 CSOs implementing SDGs Agenda.”

#Women2030 partners at the European Development Days

The coalition and local partners of the programme #Women2030 will be present at the European Development Days in Brussels, on 5 and 6 June 2018, on their stand number 79, to facilitate dialogues with local partners from Africa, Latin America, Asia and Caucasus, and to showcase results after 2 years of implementation. #Women2030 coalition and local partners will be present at stand nr 79 to engage with visitors of the EDD; 10 MEPs and heads of divisions of the European Commission have confirmed their attendance. Feminists from a.o. Georgia, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and Paraguay will share their priorities for women’s rights and gender equality, and what EU policies should be strengthened to achieve inclusive sustainable development.  They  will address three topic areas in the course of the two days: 1) Women’s rights and financing for development, co-organised with WO=MEN; 2) Circular economy: Chemicals, Waste, Water, Sanitation, Energy; co-organised with WECF Georgia and Gender and Water Alliance, and 3) Sustainable development: Forests, Biodiversity, Energy, Climate organised with  Global Forest Coalition. Tools, reports, campaigns and other resources that have been elaborated to build capacity and support the engagement of women’s rights and gender equality organisations will be showcased. Women 2030 partners presenting at UN Women side event during CSW62

New York: Official Side Event to CSW62 12.03.2018 WECF together with UN Women and the German Ministry of Development Cooperation (Bundesministerium für Entwicklungszusammenarbeit) convened a side event with the title "Turning Promises Into Action: Gender Equality in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN in New York. At the heart of the event was the presentation of the UN Women report “Turning Promises into Action” which had already been launched in Berlin, Nairobi and New York in February 2018.  The event was set up as a panel discussion sharing key lessons from the flagship report of UN Women on gender equality within the Agenda 2030 and bringing together experiences from governments, intergovernmental organisations from Jordan and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as grassroots organisations from Kyrgyzstan and Uganda. The event specifically discussed the monitoring of the progress on gender equality within the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The importance of gender disaggregated data as well as a more gender inclusive indicator framework and a robust monitoring scheme were identified as key factors for the gender-responsive SDGs implementation. Women2030

The Women 2030 project is being implemented in countries across different regions of the world. It is constituted by a coalition of 4 women+ and gender network organisations collaborating to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a gender-equitable and climate-just way. The coalition is part of a 5 year framework partnership agreement with the European Commission’s International Cooperation arm (DEVCO) called “Women 2030 CSOs implementing SDGs Agenda.”

#Women2030 supports the implementation of the Agenda 2030. With activities at international, regional, national, and grass-roots level, the coalition integrates many of the SDGs in its work. Particular focus is on Gender Equality (SDG 5); Universal access to Water and Sanitation (#SDG6); Sustainable Energy (#SDG7); Decent Work (#SDG8); Sustainable Production and Consumption (#SDG12); Climate Action (#SDG13); Conserving Forests and Biodiversity (#SDG15).
