Georgia: SDG 5

Gender Assessment of Sustainable Development Goal #5

A gender assessment research was undertaken by the organization We Research within the auspices of the project ‘’Women 2030’’ funded by the European Union and implemented by WECF International.

Previous research in Georgia indicates that traditional understandings of gender roles are deeply rooted and widespread among the Georgian population. This gender assessment aims to analyze the issues that contribute to the dimensions of gender inequality. In particular, the study focuses on the division of labour between women and men, and access, power and control over resources. Furthermore, the study looks at the most marginalised groups (such as women residing in rural areas, ethnic minorities and women with disabilities) as a cross cutting issue while assessing each thematic area. The data for the analysis were collected in line with thematically relevant Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5th) indicators.
